Knit a swatch 30 stitches by 10 to 20 rows using the pattern stitch you will use. Laying the swatch flat and avoiding stretching or compressing it, measure it and determine the number of stitches per inch and the number of rows per inch and enter those numbers here.

Ribbing for wrists and arms is usually Knit 1, Purl 1 and the pattern will be written that way. However ribbing at the waist can be that basic ribbing, or more elastic by Knit 2, Purl 1 or even Knit 2, Purl 2. Which type of ribbing would you prefer at the waist?

Make the following measurements and enter your findings.
1 Bust: Measure generously around your chest and add at least 1 inch to the final measurement, then round up to the nearest inch. BUST:
2 Hips: Measure generously around the fullest part of your hips and add at least 1 inch to the final measurement, then round up to the nearest inch. HIPS:

3 Wrist: Measure the circumference of your forearm and add 1/2 inch. WRIST:

4 Arm: Measure from 2 inches below the apex of your armpit to your wrist, and enter that measurement. ARM:

5 Midriff: Again, beginning 2 inches below the apex of your armpit, measure to that point on your hips where you want the bottom of the ribbing to reach. MIDRIFF:

6 Back/Body Length: Measure down the back from the top middle of your shoulder to your the bottom of your planned ribbing, or along your side avoiding your breast or stomach if that is more convenient way to measure. BODYLENGTH:

7 Neck Length: For turtlenecks, measure up from your collarbone to the highest point you want the collar to reach. For flat collars measure down as far as you want the collar to lie. NECKLENGTH:
