NOTE:
This is a log of a LIVE CHAT originating from the Green Room
at Chicon, the 58th Annual World Science Fiction Convention.
We thank our guests for being game enough to brave a live chat
under less than optimal circumstances.
Our guests were typing on unfamiliar laptops with very small
keyboards. (Click Here to see the chat area.)
Because of these several impediments, as well as other
technical difficulties, you will find typos and occasional
replication of text. In our humble opinion, typos show that
the logs are of *live* chats, not canned interviews, and
minimal editing of these logs has taken place.

[Cybling] What are your impressions?
[steve] Pretty god,
[Sharon] Wow, it's been great!
[steve] we've had a great time
[Sharon] Steve's been on a hundred panels and I've been
[Cybling] LOL
[Sharon] on a couple and mostly got to people watch
[steve] So big we still haven'tcaught up with everyone
[Cybling] People watching must be almost as much fun, if not more I think.
[Cybling] I haven't been out of the green room much...how are the costumes for tonight coming along?
[steve] Lots of people -- con types and nonn...
[Sharon] Seen some great hall costumes, and I'm looking
[steve] Haven't noiced any of that (sigh)..
[Sharon] forward to the masquerade. Did you see the
[Sharon] mad scientist who had survived the explosion?
[steve] oops -- noticed
[VeronicaMatrix] i see on the little paragraph about you selves you have cats
[steve] owned by
[Sharon] Four cats. Only four cats.
[Cybling] Now I noticed that convention dress at a worldcon seems to be a lot more conservative than at some of the local cons.
[VeronicaMatrix] bother you a lot??
[Cybling] Folks seem to stick to tshirts and jeans during the day of what I've seen.
[Lawrence] How big a reception did you get from the Friends of Liaden?
[steve] It does?
[Cybling] I've not seen on Ferengi or wizard
[steve] Huge
[Sharon] Is that Lawrence?
[Sharon] The Liaden Universe Lounge was super! We had
[steve] We are still meeting more
[Sharon] a dignified, but fun party on Friday night. Missed you!
[Cybling] Can you tell us what the Liaden Universe Lounge is?
[steve] The Liaden Lounge --
[steve] is a suite put together
[steve] by the friends of Liad
[steve] andd...
[steve] we have had a party there wvery night
[Cybling] BTW, folks....I have our guests sitting at a dining room table on dining room chairs using laptops...
[Cybling] so typos *are* required.
[Sharon] Just like home. [grin]
[Lawrence] as long as they don't mispell Liaden
[VeronicaMatrix] lol
[steve] Sigh...
[Sharon] The Lounge has been full of fun people. Including...
[Sharon] Ur Sid the Norbear, who has been partying
[Mykie] I kinda like Steve's typos...
[steve] I 'm working on a strange machine and might typo anything...
[Sharon] Very Hardy. And is a BIG hit with the ladies
[Cybling] LOLOL.
[Sharon] Hey, Mykie, you don't want to grade Steve's spelling now,
[Sharon] do you?
[VeronicaMatrix] lol
[steve] The long also has a bear... a norbear...
[Cybling] Steve and Terry told me a little about Norbear the standin. He's been up to no good I hear.
[Mykie] Heck, no! I've got enough on my plate with my 6th graders!
[Sharon] Got good photos of thebear traveling around
[Sharon] Chicago, hobnobbing with the Famous Writers.
[VeronicaMatrix] hehe
[Sharon] Why, he even went to the SFWA Suite and
[Lawrence] Did Warren and Angela make it without mishap?
[steve] The Liaden Party lastedunilt after 3 am the other night...keot that vear up late
[Sharon] umm, ate a Whole Lot of Chocolate Chip Cookies,
[Sharon] I'm afraid.
[Sharon] Saw Warren and John. I don't think I've seen
[Sharon] Angela, but I think we can assume she made it OK [g]
[Mykie] I'm not sure whose the worse influence on Ur SId: Jim Ess or Bill/Carol?&co!
[Sharon] We did have a chance to talk to Colleen Doran and
[steve] The con has been keeping all of us hopping with panels
[Lawrence] what, no Liaden Vampire stories in the works for DoD?
[Sharon] actually WON A BID ON A PIECE of ART! YES!
[steve] LIaden vamps? Hmmm...
[Sharon] Liaden vampires would be ...very proper...
[Mykie] Be afraid, be VERY afraid
[Cybling] Steve, Sharon... I see that you use Meisha Merlin Publishing. Quite a few authors seem to be going with that Press for some of there works.
[Cybling] Any particular reason?
[Sharon] Stephe Pagel was originally doing reprints of
[steve] They cam e to us --
[Cybling] That's a good reason.
[steve] Stephe Pagel has a good eye [g]
[Cybling] LOL 8^D
[Sharon] underpublished authors. We were certainly
[Sharon] underpublished. He fixed that. Yes, he did.
[Cybling] Good!
[Sharon] Next book out in February.
[Mykie] yay!
[Cybling] So tell us...what's on the shelves RIGHT NOW.
[Sharon] Right now, we have Plan B and Partners in Necessity,
[Sharon] an omnibus of the three original, underpublished,
[Sharon] novels. Next year is
[Sharon] Pilots Choice, an omnibus of two original novels.
[steve] Also, SFBC just added Partners to the schedule
[steve] That'sPartners InNecessity
[Cybling] Wonderful!
[Sharon] So, we're having a GOOD con [g]
[Mykie] After this conventions, there may be requests for a norbear novel or three? [G]
[Sharon] No norbear novels. Norbears are very private
[Sharon] persons. As you know.
[Lawrence] S & s, will you be compiling the stories form AM into a collection any time soon?
[Sharon] Lawrence, don't know. Warren had said something
[Cybling] I have links on both of your chicon chat linnk pages to your web pages....
[Cybling] do you have excerpts there that we could read to get a taste of your work?
[Cybling] LOL
[Sharon] about possibly putting Changeling into the next
[Sharon] AbMag anthology, which is very cool
[Sharon] Excerpts from PlanB can be read off of
[Sharon] www.korval.com/liad.htm, as well
[Sharon] as chapters from Partners in Necessity.
[Sharon] The sample chapters for Pilots Choice should
[Sharon] be online by the end of the month.
[Lawrence] I didn't realize he was planning another.
[Sharon] Hi, steve! [Sharon waves?
[Lawrence] Will you two be comiing out to Philadelphia in November for Philcon?
[steve] And I'm back
[Sharon] Philcon's not on the schedule this year. Any chance
[steve] Sigh,
[Sharon] we can tempt you up to AlbaCon?
[Cybling] Thanks for the urls Sharon and for holding down the fort while we got Steve reconnected here.
[Sharon] It was fun. Suddenly, he just ... vanished.
[steve] we're on eadline for I dare
[Cybling] So I take it that you folks do a *lot* of conventions?
[Lawrence] I don't know anything about AlbaCon. But I'll look into it.
[steve] Well, not a samny as we used to, But we
[steve] like conventions a lot
